Gloria Gutierrez, age 75 of Sterling, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

Gloria was born on April 6, 1944 in San Benito, TX, the daughter of Jose and Clara (Garza) Escamilla. She married Abraham J. Gutierrez on February 3, 1962 in Sterling. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1999. Gloria was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia (William) Stevens of MN, Petra Gutierrez of Sterling and Priscilla (Jonathon) Smith of Sterling; one son, Peter (Suzie) Gutierrez of Sterling; six grandchildren, Tyler Stevens, Ariel Stevens (Carrie), Kaylab Gutierrez, Alexandra Gutierrez, Kyla Gutierrez (Adrian) and Alyssa Marquez (Patrick); three great grandchildren, Alexis, Adrian and Josiah; brother-in-law, Guillermo Garza; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls with the rosary recited at 5:45 P.M. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling with Reverend James R. Keenan, Celebrant officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been to Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
