Gloria A. Horwedel, 84 died Sunday December 6, 2020 at Regency Care of Sterling.

She was born on June 19, 1936 in Mount Carroll, the daughter of Henry and Iva (Tarner) Ginther. She married Merle W. Horwedel on September 1, 1956 in Clinton, IA. He died on May 9, 2020. Gloria was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sterling and had served as past choir director, sung in the choir and played in the bell choir. She enjoyed oil painting, needlework and her flower garden.

Survivors include her daughter, Merle Lynn (Phil Andrew) White of Webster City, IA; her sons: Eric (Shawna Alexander) Horwedel of Rockford, Chad Horwedel of Bolingbrook and Michael Horwedel of Rock Falls; her five grandchildren: Calvin Horwedel of Bolingbrook, Katerina Horwedel of Denver, Alexzander Horwedel of Rock Falls, Isaak Horwedel of Rock Falls and Mackenzie Horwedel of Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merle; and her sisters: Norma Lundgren and Iletta Duck.

Masks and social distancing requirement will be required for a public visitation to allow 10 persons at a time to rotate through on Wednesday December 9, 2020 from 5-6 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. Graveside committal services will follow on Thursday at 10 AM at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
