Patriotic Emblem

Gerald Ray Barsema, age 64 of Fulton, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his home.

Gerald was born on May 14, 1950 in Clinton, the son of Zepe and Charlotte Bell (Remrey) Barsema. On October 25, 1969, he married Phyllis Oberheim in Fulton. Gerald worked as a supervisor at Schafer's Fisheries for many years. He also owned and operated Barsema's Fireworks in Thomson and Barsema's Pumpkins in Fulton.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Fulton; one daughter, Lisa (Charles) Spencer of Thomson; two sons, John (Leanne) Barsema of Fulton and Steve Barsema of Fulton; four sisters, Barb (Eddie) Hager of Fulton, Mary (Vernon) VanKampen of Fulton, Lela (Robert) Housby of Fulton and Sonja (Bill) Schatti of East Moline; six brothers, Donald (Jenella) Barsema of Lyndon, Bobby (Kathy) Barsema of Fulton, Jimmie (Nancy) Barsema of Fulton, David (Tina) Barsema of Fulton, Rick (Laurie) Barsema of Fulton and Mike (Kathy) Barsema of Clinton; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one expecting great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Zepe, Jr. and Danny "Monk" Barsema.

Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2 015 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton. Graveside service will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M at Fulton Township Cemetery.
