Gene T. Dalton, Sr, 84 of Rock Falls died Monday September 13, 2021 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling.

He was born on August 29, 1937 in Prairie DuChen, WI the son of John and Marvel (Rumsey) Dalton. He married Shirley Jean McKinstry on August 31, 1958 in Clinton, IA. Gene was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co as a first helper in the furnace department, retiring in 1990 after 31 ½ years. He was a dedicated member of Harvest Time Bible church having served as an usher for 17 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, working on his home, working on antique cars, going on car rides to view the scenery and nature. Gene treasured his time with family.

Survivors include his wife Shirley; his daughters: Ruth Armstrong of Sterling and Teresa (Larry) Mount of Springfield, MO; his son, Gene (Alice) Dalton Jr of Sterling; his sisters: Doris Badger of Hemet, CA and Barbara Joyce Luke of Stockton, IL; his brother Gary (Violet) Dalton of Camanche, IA; 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Franklin; one grandson Gene Dalton III; two sisters and five brothers.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. The service will follow at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Jason Borton officiating. Burial will conclude at 2:00 PM at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson. Arrangements by McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
