Ester Salazar 96 of Rock Falls died Friday December 6, 2019 at her home.

She was born on February 2, 1923 in San Benito, TX the daughter of Manuel and Guadalupe (Flores) DeLaCruz. She married Donato Salazar Sr on February 19, 1947 in San Benito. He died January 17, 2005. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, cooking, traveling, crocheting, sports (especially watching her grandchildren's compete at their many events) and going out to eat at her favorite restaurants.

Survivors include her daughters: Connie Walljasper of Rock Falls, Christine Edmondson of Sterling, Mary (Rory) Keala of Hawaii, her sons: Guadalupe Salazar of Dixon, Valentine (Maria) Salazar of San Antonio, TX, Donato Salazar Jr, of Sterling, Ernesto Salazar of Rock Falls, Richardo Salazar and David Salazar both of Boynton Beach, FL, Manuel Salazar of Sterling and Robert (Gina) Salazar of Dixon; her daughter in law Michelle Salazar of East Moline; 31 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband; one son Antonio; a daughter in law Marina Salazar; son in law Mike Walljasper; two brothers Manuel and Roberto DeLaCruz and one sister Guadalupe Olivarez.

Visitation will be Wednesday December 11, 2019 from 5-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The rosary will be retied at 4:45 PM. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
