Eileen Marie Wittevrongel, 93, of Chadwick passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Sterling Coventry Living Center. ]She was born on Apr 16, 1918, in Sterling, a daughter of James Roy and Catherine (Ryan) McKenna. She and August (Gus) Wittevrongel were married at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Prophetstown, IL on Nov. 25th, 1944. She was a member of St. Wendelin's Catholic Church, Shannon, IL. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Chadwick and Gary (Sandy) Wittevrongel of Burlington, NC., daughter-in-law, Jeanne (Ken) Groezinger of Shannon, granddaughters, Angie (Jeff) Norton of Lanark, Rich (Amy) Groezinger, Shannon Wittevrongel of Seattle, WA, Katrina (Tony) Herrera of Tucson, AZ; great grand children, Grace Norton, Emma Norton, Lake Carroll, Bishop Groezinger, Hudson Groezinger and Shelby Groezinger.
Also surviving are three sisters, Dorothy (James) Chamberlain of Albany, Jean (Cleon) Eyrich of Prophetstown, Betty (Al) Vroman of Geneseo.
Preceding her in death were her husband, August, one son Michael, her parents; three sisters, Rita Conley, Mary Grennan, and LaVerne Solkoski; and nine brothers, Father Leo McKenna, Vincent, Lourde, Robert, William, Paul, Don, Dean and Dale McKenna.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m.Saturday, March 10 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon, with Father Michael Bolger officiating. Interment will be at Lanark Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 9 at McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville with prayers at 4 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald Funeral Home, Milledgeville.
