Ed Wolber, age 73 of Sterling, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Ed was born on February 20, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the ¬son of Kenneth and Jean (McCurdy) Wolber. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the War in Vietnam from 1963-1967. Ed married Constance "Connie" O'Brien on May 29, 1971 in Sterling. He worked for Henry Pratt leaving as a Chief Nuclear Inspector in 1980 and ComEd as a Construction Supervisor until his retirement in 1999. Ed wintered in McAllen, TX where he enjoyed golfing and cooking for the Men's Golfing Association. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and boating. He was a member of the Eagle's Club and the Sterling American Legion.

Survivors include, his wife, Constance; two daughters, Teresa (Tim) Stern of Rock Falls and Michelle Stephens (Steve Peters) of Bennet, NE; one brother, Milt (Barbara) Wolber of Sterling; five grandchildren, Nicole (Bill) Sanders of Morrison, Cody Stern of La Crosse, WI, Penny (Ethan) Smit of Rock Falls, Stephanie Swain of Lincoln, NE and Valerie Gage (Greg Pence) of Palmyra, NE; and seven great grandchildren: Michael, Payton and Hudsyn Smit; Liz Swain; and Gavin, Logan and Anna Pence.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronald Wolber; and son-in-law, Larry Stephens.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Memorial service immediately following at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home Full Military Honors will conclude the ceremony. A luncheon reception will follow at the Eagle's Club, 321 W 2nd St., Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established to the American Heart Association.
