Duane Armstrong, 73 of Sterling died Saturday August 25, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born on November 29, 1944 the son of Emmett and Mary Ellen (Eberly) Armstrong. He married the former Teresa Pepper on August 5, 1995 in Sterling. Duane served his entire career as a law enforcement officer; as a deputy with Ogle County Sheriff Department; as a Sergeant with the Whiteside County Sheriff Department later retiring as a Parole Officer for the State of Illinois in Rockford.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa; his daughters: Marjorie (Jeff) Curtis and Becky (Mike) Woodrow both of Loves Park, IL; his sisters: Charlotte Williams of Sycamore, Pam (Gary) Arbogast of Oregon and Janice Simmons of Rochelle; his brother Jim (Carol) Armstrong of Kansas; four grandchildren: Matthew Brickson, Jordan (Sarah) Brickson, Deveyn Curtis and Burke Curtis; 3 great grandchildren: Brenyn Brickson, Jordan A. Brickson and Brielle Brickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Steven and a great granddaughter, Amelia Brickson.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Wednesday August 29, 2018 from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. The memorial service will follow at 1 PM with the Reverend Kenneth Zuitoff officiating.
