Doris L. Wasson
Doris L. Wasson, age 99, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Doris was born July 21, 1922 in Rochelle the daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Grim) Howard. She married Clark Wasson on January 5, 1946 in Franklin Grove. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004. Doris was a school teacher at Dillon School in Rock Falls for many years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and hosting parties for family and friends. Doris was an active member of the Rock Falls United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years.
She is survived by one son, Steven (Corinne) Wasson of Spring Green, Wis.; her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Wasson of Rock Falls; two grandchildren, Greta (Marv) Van Weelden and Chris (Amy) Wasson; and three great grandchildren, Brody Van Weelden, Grant Wasson and Ellie Wasson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, John Wasson; two sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue in Sterling followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jin-Hee Kang officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Rock Falls United Methodist Church.
