STERLING – Donald E. Gascoigne, 53 of rural Sterling died peacefully Friday June 22, 2018 at his home.

He was born on January 14, 1965 in Dixon, the son of Donald Ray and Kathleen Mary (Payne) Gascoigne. He attended St. Mary School in Dixon and was a 1983 graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School in Sterling. He married Joan Schultz on August 17, 1985 in Sterling. Don had been a farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He had enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, playing cards, antiquing and going on road trips.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; his sons: Matthew Gascoigne of Sterling and Christopher (Carissa) Gascoigne of Rock Falls; his daughter Sarah Gascoigne of Chicago; his grandson Braxtin; his brothers: Douglas (Rebecca) Gascoigne of Dixon and Dean (Melissa) Gascoigne of Sterling; his sisters: Diane (Tim) Shipman of Dixon and Denise (Steve) Smith of Dixon; his father Donald "Tuffy" (Wilma) Gascoigne of Amboy.

He was preceded in death by his mother K. Mary Gascoigne; infant twins children: Michael and Kathleen Gascoigne; and twin infant sisters: Lori and Linda Gascoigne.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 26, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon or to the "Payne in the ALS" memorial.
