Dennis R. Morris, age 64, of Milledgeville passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.

Dennis was born June 7, 1950 in Wilton, Arkansas to Berlin and Ophelia Morris Romero. He married Dorothy VanKampen on October 24, 1997. He attended Rockford schools before joining the US Army in 1967. After serving in the Army, he was a truck driver for over 40 years, retiring in 2011 from Con Way Freight in Rockford. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 553 in Milledgeville. He enjoyed collecting coins, watching old westerns, old movies and spending time with his family. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Oakland Raiders fan.

Dennis is survived by his wife Dorothy of Milledgeville, his mother Ophelia of Missouri, a son Christopher (Diana) Morris of Pinellas Park, FL, a daughter Shelby Morris of Rock Falls, step-daughters Shelly Schneider of North Carolina, Deb (Marv) Howlett, Sue Litwiller, both of Milledgeville and Jennifer Knuth of Savanna, 4 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, two brothers Bill Morris of Rockford, and Roger (Sue) Morris of Arkansas and a sister Carleen (Courtney) Pittman of Waco, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister-in-law.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville, 520 Holcomb Avenue. Cremation rites will follow.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
