Dean Lewis Winchell, age 82 of Sterling, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Dean was born on October 1, 1932 in Tampico; the son of Clarence Harold and Berna Mae (Dronenberg) Winchell. He is a United States Army Veteran, serving our country in the Korean War. Dean married Kathryn McCormick on January 31, 1953 in Tampico. He was employed by RBW for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Dean was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling and the Sterling American Legion, Post #296.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Sterling; two daughters, Deana (Scott) Seeley of Sterling and Nancy (Bob) Fitzgerald of Ft. Collins, CO; one son, David Winchell of Sterling; one sister, Alice Hepner of Prophetstown; one brother, Vernon (Joan) Winchell of Villa Park, IL; two granddaughters, Stephanie Roman and Saryn Seeley and four grandsons, Shane (Keegan), Brady, Casey and McKenzie Fitzgerald.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Gene Winchell and brother in law, Delbert Hepner.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 9:30-10:45 A.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling (505 1st Avenue), with the Rosary recited at 9:15 A.M. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend James R. Keenan, Celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
