David "Dave" Fisk, 80, a resident of Prophetstown, died on Wednesday morning, June 19th at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.
He was born on September 1, 1938 in Sterling to Harold and Margaret (Carstensen) Fisk.
He was united in marriage to Anita Johnson on August 19, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dave was a lineman for the former Contel Telephone Company, later Frontier, for over 40 years retiring in 2003. He was a graduate of Prophetstown High School class of 1956. Dave was active with the Prophetstown Fire Department for many years and had served as Fire Chief for 17 years. He enjoyed fishing, wood working and gardening. He was quite fond of his black raspberry bushes and was considered a jack of all trades by his family. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was loved spending time with his dogs. He served in the US Navy and was a past member of the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown for many years as well as a lifetime member of the Polo VFW.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Anita, of Prophetstown; his daughter, Leslie (Patrick) McPherson, of Polo; his sons, Michael Fisk of Prophetstown and Trevor (Jodi) Fisk of Moline; his grandchildren and their spouses, Libby, David (Lora), Steve, Maggie (Matt), Amanda (Tim), Mallory (Stacey), Brandon (Katie), Caitlin (Casey), Casey, Kendra, Tari, Kolton, Erin and Dana; and his great grandchildren, Westen, Maryn, Barrett, Myah, Lindsey, Grant, Dean, Chloe, Parker, Paisley and Kalvin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st from 1:30-3:30 PM at McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Falls. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 PM in the funeral home with Reverend John Johnson, officiating. Cremation rites will follow the service with full military honors provided by the Rock Falls American Legion Post 902.
