Corrine "Connie" D. Schweiss, age 86, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Connie was born April 4, 1930, in Chicago the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Oehl) Nichols. She married Edward Schweiss on June 17, 1950, in Sterling. Connie was a homemaker and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and helped design and organize the Parish Center kitchen where she orchestrated many special events and occasions. She enjoyed volunteering at PADS, the St. Mary Parish Center and CGH, and she was instrumental in establishing Family for a Day and Let's Feed Our Children programs.

Survivors include her husband, Edward of Sterling; three daughters, Karen (Eric) Zigler, Kristine (Thomas) Gallardo and Kim (Clifford) Hansen all of Sterling; two sons, Kraig (Valerie) Schweiss of Sterling and Karl (Darla) Schweiss of Yukon, Okla.; one sister, Dorothy Eierman of Dyer, Ind.; sixteen grandchildren: Jennifer (Mark) Blesius, Matthew (Jill) Gallardo, Grace (Brandon) More, Samuel (Rachel) Gallardo, David (Megan) Zigler, Paul (Michelle) Zigler, William (Carmella) Zigler, Nathan Zigler, Charles Zigler, Mark (Stephanie) Zigler, Joseph Zigler, Anne Zigler, Michael Wilkinson, Jonathan Schweiss, Amanda Schweiss and Nichole (Dustin) Lerma; ten great grandchildren; nephews: Bill (Kayla) LeFevre and Bud (Lisa) LeFevre and several other nieces and nephews; and special friend, Cindy Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geraldine LeFevre; and one brother, Robert Nichols.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 2 – 4 PM with the Rosary recited at 1:30 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling with Reverend James Keenan officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

Memorials have been established for St. Mary School, St. Mary Catholic Church and Newman Central Catholic High School.
