Cheryl A. Simester, 88, of Sterling, formerly of Rock Falls, died on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Avonlea Cottages in Sterling.

Cheryl was born on January 6, 1930 in Rock Falls to Ralph Levi and Marguerite Lamoine (Cole) Ryan. She was united in marriage to Raymond Alfred Simester on December 14, 1950 at Rock Falls Congregational Church. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2001.

Cheryl worked for many years as a CNA. She was a longtime member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church and the Golden Purpose Circle of the King's Daughters. She was a 1948 graduate of Rock Falls High School. Cheryl enjoyed knitting, doing puzzles and crocheting. She devoted her life to her family. Cheryl loved to go shelling in Florida and attended many local band concerts especially the Sterling Municipal Band and the Sauk Valley Community Concerts.

Survivors include her son, Dale (Jan) Simester, of Oak Forest; 2 daughters, Debra Reinhardt, of Rock Falls and Diane (Jeff) Faulk, of Normal; 6 grandchildren, Damion (Laura) Reinhardt, Jesse (Erin) Overright, Pete Overright, John Simester, Ryan (Kristin) Simester, and Katie (Mark) Henrichs; 6 great grandchildren, Cael, Sophie and Wyatt Reinhardt, Mona and Maebe Overright and Ethan Henrichs; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and a sister.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:30-11:30 AM on Saturday, February 17th followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM at Rock Falls United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Solomon Sudhakar, pastor, officiating. A memorial has been established in her memory to Rock Falls United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Rock River Valley.

The family wished to thank the staff of Avonlea Cottages, Hospice of the Rock River Valley, CGH Medical Center, Dr. Mir Ahlikan and Dr. Kelly Gutherie for the care and compassion shown to Cheryl during her illness.
