Cecil Bernard Young, 80 of Rock Falls, IL passed away March 28, 2022 peacefully at home.
He was born on November 12, 1941 the son of Bernard and Ethal Young and the eldest brother to Gail (Norma) Young of Morrison.
He served in the National Guard. Cecil worked at Illinois Forge for 12 ½ years before starting Elevator Construction Co in Rock Falls. He married Joan Hofer of Clinton, IA in 1964.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He is the father to Amanda (Edward) Fortune of Sterling, Bob Young (Brandy Buyers) of Rock Falls; grandfather to: Aaron Young of Maine, Brittany Young of Rock Falls, Trista Shaw of Rock Falls, Shawna Fortune of Sterling, Devon Young of Chicago, Tabbatha and Mackenzie Lindsley of Rock Falls; great grandfather to: Naomi Kant, Zoe, Payton, Legend and Ace Fortune, Triston Shaw and Tyson Bellows; greatest grandfather to Cirenity Lira.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Donald Lindsley.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 1, 2022 from 11 – 1 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home 505 1st Avenue in Sterling, IL. The funeral will follow at 1 PM.
