STERLING – Carol Treadwell, age 95, of Benton passed away Sunday March 18, 2018 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Carol was born on January 1, 1923 in Joliet to Leonard F. and Carol (Leigh) Roblee. She was united in marriage to Harry A. Treadwell on January 8, 1945 in Glen Ellyn. They celebrated more than 72 years of marriage together.
Carol was a 1941 graduate of Lockport High School. She proudly attended Purdue University where she met her husband. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in math and physics. While she was at Purdue she was a member of Delta Gamma social sorority and chosen for Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society.
Carol was employed by Benton Grade School and taught for over 25 years at Grant School and Benton Middle School. Harry and Carol were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Benton for more than 50 years. For the last year she has been attending the East Jordon United Methodist Church, Sterling. Carol and Harry were avid Airstreamers. They enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, making a total of six trips to Alaska in their camper and pickup truck.
Those left to honor her memory include two daughters, Debby Treadwell (Ben Coats) of Lisle and Leigh Miller of Elgin; two grandsons, Marc (Katie) Miller of Elgin and Don Miller of West Chicago; two great grandsons, Hudson and Will Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Charles Roblee and her son-in-law, Harold Miller.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held in Benton at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Benton, 201 S. Main Street, Benton, IL 62812. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls, IL 61071.
