Carol Marian (Full) Koehler, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 9, 2018.

Carol was born on August 25, 1935 to Jacob and Thelka (Dinges) Full in Sublette, Illinois. She married Jack D. Koehler at St. Patrick's Church, Amboy, IL, on July 13, 1957. They are the parents of Kimberly (Robert) Freitag of Elgin, IL, Trish Joyce (Thomas Senneff) of Sterling, IL, and Kristopher Koehler of Chaska, MN, and the grandparents of Caroline Freitag (Rafael Bras) of Evanston, IL. Carol was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Mary Jean Baroncini, Leon Full, Donald Full, Michael Full, and Catherine Full.

Carol was a graduate of Amboy High School and received training as a certified x-ray technician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago. She worked in the x-ray department at the Sterling Clinic for several years before attending Sauk Valley Community College and earning an associate's degree in nursing in 1970. She served as a registered nurse at the Polo Nursing Home, Community General Hospital, and KSB Hospital. Carol also trained area EMTs in critical care skills. She was instrumental in the creation of Caring Friends, a program which provides monetary assistance to KSB Hospital employees. She retired from the medical profession after more than 30 years of devoted service.

Carol is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, and her children and granddaughter, along with her siblings, Roland (Jane) Full, Lois Full, James Full, Michelyn (Robert) Masini, Janet Full, Thomas Full, and Steven (Judy) Full.

A faithful Catholic woman, Carol frequently attended weekday Mass and served as a lector and choir member at Sacred Heart Parish. A Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Father Paul White will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, March 16th, at 11:00 a.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial services at Calvary Cemetery will follow immediately after Mass. A funeral luncheon will be held in the parish hall. Funeral services are being provided by McDonald Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Newman Central Catholic High School and St. Jude's Hospital.
