Carol Humphrey passed away peacefully following a short illness with her husband of 65 years at her side, just shy of her 86th birthday. Carol was born on June 10, 1931 to Paul F. and Bertha (Peterson) Beveroth of Morrison, Illinois. After graduating from Morrison High School she was employed at Bull, Yost and Ludens, Attorneys at Law as their legal secretary. On August 11th, 1951, she married Dale J Humphrey, and has lived in their original home in Rock Falls until the time of her death. Their first child, Steven, was born in April of 1952, followed by Scott in 1955 and Jill in 1958.
Carol was an active and charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was in many church activities and especially enjoyed singing in choirs, directing both adult and junior choirs for years.

She was an active member in the University of Illinois Homemakers Extension. Through the education of this ongoing program, she received an Honorable Degree in Home economics.

Carol enjoyed raising her three children, staying involved in their education as a member of the East Coloma Community Club and a very active member, along with her husband, of the Rock Falls Marching Rockets Boosters. One would often see their car traveling behind the line of buses, willing to support the marching band in any way they could.

In 1976, she joined the local chapter of Sweet Adeline's International. As a member for more than 30 years, eleven of those years singing with the award winning Iowa City chorus, she experienced competitions locally, nationally, and on international levels. Her passion for music offered her many opportunities for travel and many opportunities to forge lifelong friendships.

Carol is survived by her husband of 65 years, her sister, Lucia Pierson of Sterling, Illinois; her son Scott (Sandy) Humphrey of Pittsburgh, PA; her daughter, Jill Ely of Terre Haute, Indiana; her daughter in law Deborah Humphrey of Terra haute, IN; two grandsons and four great grand children.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald Beveroth, one son, Steven Humphrey, one grandson, Patrick Humphrey and her son in law Donald Ely.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 17, 2017 from 5 til 7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow on Thursday at 10 AM at Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the reverend Daniel Behmlander officiating. Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
