STERLING- Carl Donovan, age 73, died at home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness Saturday, September 30, 2017.
Carl was born on November 19, 1943 the son of Nathan Charles and Reta Alice (Adams) Donovan. He married Sheila Ann Cook on April 25, 1979. Carl was employed as a Head Wiper for 32 years at Northwestern Steel & Wire retiring in 2004.
Survivors include, his wife Sheila of Sterling; three daughters, Dawn Marie (Jim) Timmons of Sterling, Sandra (Dave) Glazier of Sterling and Donna Metcalf of Rock Falls; three sons, Carl Dean Donovan, Jr. of Mo., Mathew A Donovan and Jesse Lee (Alesha) Donovan both of Sterling; one sister, Wilma (Don) Yates of Kirksville, Mo.; two brothers, Charles (Laura) Donovan of Bellevue, Neb. and Rev. David (Judy) Donovan of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; fifteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maurita Donovan; one child in infancy.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 Liberty Baptist Church, 2002 9th Avenue, Rock Falls. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tommy McMurtry officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
