Beverly "Bev" Kitsmiller, 73, of Sterling, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at home.

He was born on October 5, 1943 in White Hall, Illinois the son of Franklin and Dora (Kessinger) Kitsmiller. He married Wendy Leach on October 5, 1986 in Sterling.

Bev was a supervisor at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company for 30 years until retiring in 2001. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Chicago Bears fan. He coached little league and enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time with family. He also enjoyed bowling in leagues.

Those surviving include his wife, Wendy, of Sterling; daughters, Maryellen (Jon) Bateman of Bakersfield, California, Laurie (Guy) Long of Sterling and April (Craig) Brown of Dixon; a son Ken Kitsmiller of Prophetstown; grandchildren Justin, Shanda, Kelsey, Heather, Emily, Vanessa, and Molly; great grandchildren, Carter and Brexton; a brother John Kitsmiller of White Hall and a sister in law Wilma Kitsmiller of Berdan. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Wesley Kitsmiller, Doris Imogene Hardwick, William Kitsmiller, Shirley Hardwick and Emma Mae Kitsmiller.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, April 11 at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Aaron Meeks, officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
