Bernard J. Housenga
Bernard J. Housenga, age 88, of Fulton, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at The Alverno in Clinton, IA.
Bernard was born April 1, 1929 in East Clinton, IL, the son of Dave J. and Bessie (Wiersema) Housenga. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1947 and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Bernard married Mary J. Lyons on June 29, 1951. He retired from Ralston Purina as a pipefitter, was an avid gardener, a Chicago Cubs fan, and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; three daughters, Brenda (Greg) Pell of Fulton, Cathy (Harold) Kenworthy of Clinton, IA and Sandy Badger of Calhan, CO; two sons, Kenneth (Jodi) Housenga of Fulton and Patrick (Diane) Housenga of Thomson; two brothers; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; and one sister.
Private graveside services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
