Alberta I. Herrera, age 86 of Sterling, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Alberta was born on January 17, 1931 in Sterling, the daughter of Albert Otten and Bessie (Craig) Beggs. She married Pedro "Pete" Herrera. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2001. Alberta worked at Farm and Fleet in Sterling for 25 years, retiring in 1996. She was a past member of the Eagle's Club. She enjoyed reading, going to the casinos and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Willa) Sisson of Lyndon; one brother, Neal (Linda) Otten of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Candie (Rick) Henderson, Rob (Kendra) Sisson, Kellie (Jack) Cochran and Sonia Sisson; seven great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Bill and John Sisson; two brothers, Kenny Otten and Bud Craig and one sister, Barb Eikenberry.

Cremation rites have been accorded with the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.
