Adrienne M. Sanders, age 83, of Sterling, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.

Adrienne was born June 23, 1933 in Rockville Center, N.Y. the daughter of Austin and Mary (Flanagan) Allen. She was a 1951 graduate of Sterling High School and later married Eugene Sanders on September 14, 1953. Adrienne was part of the first graduating class of the Sauk Valley Community College Nursing Program. She was employed at CGH Medical Center in Sterling as a Registered Nurse on the surgical floor for over 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene of Sterling; one brother, Austin (Jeannie) Allen of Salina, Kan.; one daughter, Kathy (John) Bowman of Sterling; three sons, John (Robbin) Sanders of Rock Falls, Richard (Sandy) Sanders of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Michael Sanders of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Natalie (Mitch) Henry, Jenny (Brandon) Bowman, Jessie Bowman, Jamie Sanders, Sean Sanders, Dustin (Danielle) Sanders, David Sanders and Danielle Sanders; five great grandchildren, Brayden, Madelyn, and Riley Henry, Malachi Bowman and Wade Sanders; and two special caregivers, LeAnn Schneider and Marla Houseman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandmother, Katherine "Kitty" Flanagan; and her aunt and uncle, Harriett and Tom Wylie.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, June 2, 2017 from 9 – 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 at the church with Reverend Richard M. Russo officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.
