Condolence & Memory Journal

I served with Bob on the Whiteside County Board. We both served
on the Finance Committee of the Board. Many years ago, when Bob
was dating Rita Callahan, I was dating her sister, Jane.
I have a lot of respect for Bob. He was the best.
Our County will miss him. I will miss him.DPFDI

Van was an extraordinary listener, always intrigued to know more about you and your family; he always made you feel welcomed. Van lived next to my family for years, over time, I had the pleasure of interacting with Van, and his laughter was contagious. So many beautiful memories, Van lived his life to the fullest; he will be missed but not forgotten. Craig T.

We bought Bob & Rita's house on West 13t. Street in the late 1900's. They had a wonderful family home and they were a joy to work with. We loved that home. We only knew them from that home sale, but they were a lovely couple.

I am sorry to hear this sad news.
I went to work for Van in 1973, for Hardware
Products Co. And stayed with him during his
Des Moines venture for a short time. Always
enthused about his Business, with lots of energy;
he was a people person, and loved to promote.
Safe Home, Van, and may God bless.

I became friends and co-worker with Van in 1970 when I started working at
Hardware Products. After that we stayed close friends and I really enjoyed
the entire family and feel like I am one of them. Van was such an inspiration
to all with his business attitudes and energy. He was my HERO!! I will attempt
to be the man he was.
