Condolence & Memory Journal

I was very saddened by the news that my childhood friend passed recently and of such a challenging cancer. I haven't seen Jim since I joined the Air Force in 1982 and left the hometown for good. My memories of Jim and all our friends in the neighborhood are always of great fun. Jim was a natural leader and a very obvious mathematical mind. He was always organizing us younger kids into sports events and other neighborhood adventures. Jim conceived, organized and led, which he did very naturally, an invitation to a bunch of kids in another neighborhood to have a football game in his yard. The kids accepted and we had a great kids football game for an imagined Neighborhood Football League (NFL) championship. It was a great contest of vigorous but well control football in Jim's yard that essentially became Sayer's Acres Stadium for a day. The home team pulled out a victory on the last play of the game. All kids and spectators hailed this event as a huge success and it will never be forgotten by anyone that participated on or off the field. I will always remember our neighborhood as a place of great adventure, learning and joy with Jim right in the middle of all the calamity. Rest in peace my old friend. Terry Cooney

When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that an angel is now watching over you. I extend my most sincere condolences to John and your family.

My brother Jim will be loved and missed tremendously. I know his Angel's wrapped him in their wings and delivered him to peace with our Lord. I will miss him forever.

So sad and sorry to hear about Jimmy. I have always had a fondness of him since we were kids. He was always so sweet and adorable. I know he's already missed terribly by family and friends.
