Herminio Rodriguez, Jr., age 73, died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Rock Falls Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Herminio was born on October 6, 1945 in Santa Rosa, Texas the son of Herminio, Sr. and Ciria (Rodriguez) Rodriguez. He married Gynethia Bishop on February 13, 2009 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2019. Herminio was employed by Union Pacific and Northwestern Steel and Wire. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling and the Boxing Club in Sterling. He was a Green Bay Packers fan, loved watching westerns and action movies and enjoyed working out at the YMCA.

He is survived by five daughters, Corina Jaco of Galva, Maria Teresa (Jason) Dazley of Kewanee, Martha Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas, Sylvia Rodriguez of Rockford and Lori Rodriguez of the Quad City area; three sons, James Rodriguez, Tony Rodriguez and David Rodriguez all of Dixon; two sisters, Grace (Vernon) Myers of Rock Falls and Gloria (Salome) Serrano of Columbia, Tenn.; one brother, Adrian (Gyl) Rodriguez of Prophetstown; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two brothers, Jose Rodriguez and Felimon Rodriguez.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 AM Tuesday September 24, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jorge Bravo officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to help with burial expenses.


Condolence & Memory Journal

It was such a joy to meet Mr. Rodriguez at the Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center and to share a pepsi with him along with good memories. I was honored to be a part of the Celebration of Life for his beloved Gynethia. I shall always remember his smiles that day. My condolenses to his family and friends who loves him.
