Frances Bohms Scudder, 98 of Sterling died Thursday August 8, 2019 at Heritage Woods of Sterling.

She was born on December 18, 1920 in Morrison, the daughter of John and Emma (Hughes) Gorzny. She was educated in a rural Morrison school and was a graduate of Morrison High School and of Liberty School of Beauty Culture in Peoria. She married Edward Bohms on March 9, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He died July 9, 1959. She later married Bernard Scudder on March 22, 1969. He died October 5, 1993.

She was employed in Rock Falls beauty shops; was a member of Rock River Valley hairdressers association; was a member of the Twin City Organ Club; was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She had been a Tupperware consultant and most recently worked as a Foster Grandparent at Dillon School in Rock Falls. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (William) Conboy of Morrison; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Connie Schwitters; one brother, John Gorzny; five sisters: Beulah Pirck, Blanche Moore, Dorothy Bornac, Goldie Stichter and Mary Russell.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 12, 2019 from 3-5 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. The Reverend Richard Russo, Pastor and celebrant officiating. Burial will conclude at Coloma Township Cemetery.

Memorials to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or to Parkinson Disease Research.
