I had the honor of meeting Charley in April 2019, when both him and I were at Regency. A friendship was quickly established and we would talk gor hours over coffee at every meal. A more accomplished and fascinating individual, I've never met. Charley introduced me to his autobiographical book entitled "A Guy Named Charley: My Refusal to Be Average." I devoured the book in one evening.

Charley was anything but average. He was a star and rose to the top in whatever he chose to do. I wished I would have had him as a teacher, as my little sister did. She told me "he was my favorite teacher...he was a great man."

I will NEVER FORGET Charley, even though I knew him only three weeks. He made a profound impact on me. Discussions with him lead me to recognize that I, too, have never been average.

His memory and spirit will live on in me and hundreds of others.

My heartfelt condolences to Fran and Charley's family.

Jason and the entire Riney Family:

I was shocked to hear of Charley's passing. I first met Charley when he was teaching and coaching in Beloit and I was in Clinton, Wisconsin. We were competitors and friends and I had GREAT respect for him.
Years later we met when our sons (Jason Riney and Eric Holt)became good friends and teammates at Byron High School.
My sincere condolences to the entire Riney Family! RIP my friend!

My Dad and two other family members passed recently and soon afterward I remember being comforted by the thought that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our loss is our loved ones' gain. I hope this helps to comfort you also, Fran and family! We certainly will miss them here until the day we are all Home together! Prayers for all the Rineys as you grieve the loss of your dear Charley.

Charley was a good man, and will be missed. We had several discussions comparing our surgeries, and I know how much he cared for his family. Janice and I are out of town and will miss the funeral/visitation. We just want to extend our condolences to Fran, and their children. You are all in our prayers and please let us know if we can ever do anything for you. You were a class act, Charley, and a better person.
