She was born on March 6, 1955 in Sterling to Edward and Marjorie (Fritz) McAndrews.

Laurie was employed in the trucking industry for over 25 years. She was a kind and compassionate person who put others before herself. Laurie enjoyed traveling, camping, being outdoors and shopping especially for that perfect bargain. She was a member of Gilda's Club of Madison. She is survived by her son, Jason (Jaimie) Villa of Sterling; sisters, Connie Boonstra of Lyndon and Nancie Vaughan of Rockford; grandchildren, Dylan, Andrais, Antonio, Sylvia, Adrian, Mazzi, Alyssa and Anthony; and a great grandchild, Maleiya. Also surviving are special friends Irma and Laiza whom she cared for deeply and were like daughters to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Joshua.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 4 from 3-5 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Falls. I met Laurie in April 2018 at a retreat. I very much enjoyed the 4 days we spent together. While you could tell she was concerned about her medical condition, she always kept a positive attitude and never complained. She seemed to make the most of her time there. Everyone enjoyed her company. In the conversations we had since then, she still never complained. I am truly sorry to hear of her passing.

Extremely sad to hear this news. Laurie was the best dispatcher in the business! Always stayed cool and calm in a very pressure-packed, male dominated industry. She was a joy to work with and an even better human being, very caring and compassionate, fun to be around, always positive. Blessings to her family, may the fond memories and God's grace carry you all through this difficult time. Laurie will be missed!
