Condolence & Memory Journal

My thoughts and prayers are with the Clayton family. Dave was a wonderful friend and classmate. I have nothing but wonderful memories of his joking and kindness. This world was a better place because of him. God bless you all.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Clayton family.

I was blessed enough to have been able to play baseball at many different levels, which meant I interacted with many different people on the ball fields. Dave, had a unique ability, as an umpire, to keep the game fun in a way that I never experienced before or after. His joy and excitement being on that field was contagious and is a memory I will carry with me.

I always enjoyed when our paths crossed. Even a brief conversation made my day better. My life and experiences are better for knowing Dave.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My sincere condolences to the Clayton family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.

I first met Dave when he was at SHS and he was a true blue Golden Warrior! I always enjoyed talking sports with him whenever we would run into each other.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To the Clayton family, My condolences for your loss.

Dave was an incredible friend and an amazing person. I have not come across any one whose heart was as large, open, and understanding as Dave's. For me, his greatest attribute seems to be his ability to bring people together in friendship, happiness, and laughter. Dave was a very bright light in my life. I cherished his friendship and will sorely miss him.

My favorite memory with Dave was when I last visited home in 9/2016. He planned events for every day I was there that included a welcome home party, driving around to see the all the new murals that the town of Sterling incorporated into the downtown area, and a concert where one of our other favorite friend's, Cralles, band played. I will miss going to the Sports Books here in Vegas to place Dave's "big" bets for him. No matter what, he always put a smile on my face, lightened my heart, and lifted my spirit.

I worked with Dave over 15 years ago. I always enjoyed talking sports with Dave. We played fantasy football for several years after we stopped working together. Whenever Dave or I saw each other we always stopped to catch up, even if it had been a year or two since we saw each other. I just last year saw him running the scorers table at my sons wrestling meet. We talked for a minute but he was all business when it came to running the clock so I told him we would talk at a later time. It came as a shock that he had passed and we never did get to have that talk. Dave was a very cool guy and will be missed. Prayers and condolences to all his family and friends in this tough time. RIP friend.

Dave was manager of the first wrestling team I coached in Sterling. His claim to fame was his undefeated record that year. He finished the season 7-0, after taking 7 forfeits. We really had a great time and he loved being part of the program. He would do anything for Sterling High School athletics and he will be sorely missed.
Please accept our sincere condolences.
