Sharon B. Nichols, age 69 of rural Sheffield, IL, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her home.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 10:00-10:45 A.M. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Graveside service and burial will follow at Lyndon Cemetery with the Reverend Jane Courtright of Sheffield United Church of Christ, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Lyndon Area Historical Society.

Sharon Beth Harrison was born September 23, 1945 in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Carley C. and Thelma L. (Blagg) Harrison. She attended Lyndon schools through eighth grade and graduated from Manlius High School as valedictorian in 1963. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Millikin University in Decatur, IL in 1967.

She was married to Mark W. Nichols, deceased, in Mt. Airy, North Carolina in August of 1968. Sharon worked as a supervisor at Alpine Designs in Cheyenne, WY, as a teacher in a one room school on a ranch near Cheyenne, as a seamstress in drapery shops in Montana and in Moline, IL (some of the top treatments she constructed can still be seen at Quarters One on the Rock Island Arsenal), as a night class dean at Delta College in Baton Rouge LA, and most recently as farm manager for Harrison Farms in rural Sheffield, IL.

Sharon enjoyed creative cooking, a plethora of books on CD and was a loving helper and companion to family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Carla A. Harrison of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents.
